Inter breath-hold reproducibility of temporal patterns of coronary artery blood flow
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background While blood flow in the majority of arteries peaks in systole, the rhythmic squeezing of the coronary arteries and microcirculation as the heart beats results in left anterior descending artery (LAD) flow being diastolicpredominant while for the right coronary artery (RCA), there is approximately equal flow in systole and diastole. These temporal flow patterns can provide important information on disease state. The aim of this study is to assess the inter-breath hold reproducibility of parameters of coronary haemodynamics using a high temporal resolution spiral phase velocity mapping technique and to compare automatic and manual analyses.

Inter-study reproducibility of interleaved spiral phase velocity mapping of renal artery haemodynamics
BACKGROUND Qualitative and quantitative assessment of renal blood flow is valuable in the evaluation of patients with renal and renovascular diseases as well as in patients with heart failure. The temporal pattern of renal flow velocity through the cardiac cycle provides important information about renal haemodynamics. High temporal resolution interleaved spiral phase velocity mapping could pot...
متن کاملValidation of high temporal resolution spiral phase velocity mapping of coronary artery blood flow against Doppler flow wire
Background The temporal pattern of coronary artery flow velocity through the cardiac cycle provides important information about coronary haemodynamics. The ‘gold standard’ for coronary artery velocity assessment is the Doppler flow wire which is inserted directly into the coronary artery under X-ray fluoroscopic guidance, which is invasive, uses ionising radiation and has a small but significan...
متن کاملValidation of high temporal resolution spiral phase velocity mapping of temporal patterns of left and right coronary artery blood flow against Doppler guidewire
BACKGROUND Temporal patterns of coronary blood flow velocity can provide important information on disease state and are currently assessed invasively using a Doppler guidewire. A non-invasive alternative would be beneficial as it would allow study of a wider patient population and serial scanning. METHODS A retrospectively-gated breath-hold spiral phase velocity mapping sequence (TR 19 ms) wa...
متن کاملEffect of Breath Holding on Blood Flow Measurement using Fast Velocity Encoded Cine MR Imaging
Introduction Velocity encoded tine (VEC) MR imaging provides quantitative assessment of blood flow in the cardiovascular system. With use of segmented k-space fast VEC MR imaging, noninvasive assessment of blood flow and vasodilator flow reserve in the coronary artery and coronary arterial bypass graft can be obtained within a single breath-hold time. However, it has been pointed out that blood...
متن کاملBreathing Maneuvers as a Vasoactive Stimulus for Detecting Inducible Myocardial Ischemia – An Experimental Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Study
BACKGROUND Breathing maneuvers can elicit a similar vascular response as vasodilatory agents like adenosine; yet, their potential diagnostic utility in the presence of coronary artery stenosis is unknown. The objective of the study is to investigate if breathing maneuvers can non-invasively detect inducible ischemia in an experimental animal model when the myocardium is imaged with oxygenation-...
